Second Round of Minilessons: Taylor, Jia, Gabrielle
Creativity in the Classroom
Through
the use of interviews with renowned scholars in the field and practice
based narrative, this module gives an overview of their use to enhance
academic outcomes. The main message conveyed by the module is to have
creativity as part of every teacher’s toolbox and develop strategic use
of eliciting creativity.
After watching this video, the question is; what can you do to find ways to incorporate creativity in the classroom?
Unfortunately, I was unable to see the mini lessons performed by my peers on 3/25, however, I was fortunate enough to watch a video on creating creativity in the classroom. After watching the video, I feel as if I am more confident in my abilities to enable students to be more creative and introduce a variety of techniques that will allow me as a teacher to do this. The biggest thing when it comes to creativity, in my opinion, is that students need to have the free will to do what they want. Whether the assignment is a drawing activity, or a dance, or an arts and crafts assignment, students need to feel the power of having the ability to do as they want. In my classroom I will always encourage this. I think it is very important for students to think for themselves. By establishing relationships with my students I will encourage them to take risks and be more creative on no matter how big or little the task is in front of them.
